Q. Is there more than one grade of Wallpaper? A. Different grades of Wallpaper are usually determined by their weight with heavier wallpapers being considered more durable for harder wearing areas. Commercial wallpapers are usually weighted between 280-350 grams per square metre. Q. Are different widths available? A. Standard widths are generally available depending on the brand. Widths are; 30, 48, 54, 60 and 75 inch with 54inch or 1.37 metres being the most popular for handling and manageability. Rolls are generally available in 90 metre lengths. Q.What surfaces can be Wallpapered? A. Wallpaper requires a smooth clean surface, free of mould, moisture, grease and to be structurally sound. Freshly painted or sealed surfaces are ideal. Q.What preparation is necessary before Application? A. A good commercial grade primer is recommended and which has a white pigment. Depending on the primer used it can be applied directly to freshly plastered walls before the application of Wallpaper hence saving on the cost of alternative plaster sealers and paint. Q. What temperatures are required for Application? A. A temperature of 18 degrees Celsius is recommended during application Q. What temperatures are satisfactory for installed Wallpaper? A. A good quality commercial Wallpaper has a wide acceptable operating temperature range once applied and has dried, from negative temperature to in excess of 50 degrees Celsius. Q. Can Wallpaper be removed at a future time? A. A good quality commercial Wallpaper can be removed without the need for heat or any solution, and should be capable of being removed from the wall in a single piece. Any remaining paste residue should wash off. Q. Is Wallpaper mould and mildew resistant? A. A good quality commercial Wallpaper is resistant to mould and mildew even in humid conditions. Q. Does Wallpaper have a fire rating? A good quality commercial Wallpaper is fire extinguishing which means it will not burn without a fuel source. Once a fuel source is removed it will not continue to burn. Q. Can wallpaper be laminated? A. Wallpaper can be laminated with a clear liquid sealer which generally comes in a range from gloss to matte. Mixtures of gloss and matte sealer can be used to create a custom finish. The sealer can be painted or rolled on and generally dries within several hours depending upon temperature and humidity. Q. Do warranties apply? A. Different warranties apply depending upon several factors including: - Structural integrity of the surface
- Grade and quality of the wallpaper
- Certification level of the installers
- Whether a laminate sealer has been used or not
Warranties only apply to the Wallpaper not peeling, cracking and / or general defects in the material Q. Do special adhesives and primers need to be used? A. Commercial grade primers and adhesives should only be used.
